Tayco,
a manufacturer of office furniture, developed their site to
showcase seven product lines and company information to end-users
while creating a portal for their more than 1000 dealers and
representatives worldwide to quickly download product information
and marketing tools.
The
site uses ASP (Active Server Pages) with a MySQL database to
send and retrieve information as the user navigates through
the site. All images, navigation, text and Flash™ content,
is centrally stored in the database. As a result, content management
of the site is done with relative ease. Using Perform Marketing's content management
system, Tayco may add, update or remove information
Taking the site one step further, Perform Marketing
developed the site with accessibility in
mind. Using the guidelines set out in the Canadian Treasury
Board Common Look & Feel Standards (CLF), the World Wide
Web Consortium (W3C) and Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation
Act, the site adheres to as many guidelines as possible.
The site uses design practices to aid people
who may be blind or have low vision or who may have limited
dexterity and therefore use the keyboard or assisted technology
to navigate throughout the site.
This
initiative was recognized when tayco.com won the Macromedia
Site of the Day! on August 28th, 2002.
