With a new company name, new logo and a stylish new website on its way, RSM Richter, a Canadian accounting firm, took this opportunity to re-engineer and re-brand its' corporate
Intranet. The existing site left users wondering where they
were, how they got there and why they couldn't find the information
they were looking for in the first place.
Keeping only the text content, Perform Marketing
created a concept, which was a derivative of the newly development
RSM Richter website. The goal of the new Intranet was to create
a central repository for all company documents, event listings,
tools and contacts that was easily navigated and usable to
all RSM Richter employees.
 Starting
with a clean sheet, Perform Marketing implemented a completely
dynamic solution compared to the existing HMTL version, which
made changes to pages timely and inefficient. The base technology
that runs the Intranet is ASP.NET and MySQL. With proven track
records, these technologies work to increase site efficiency
and reduce manual processes to deliver content. The site itself
was developed using Dreamweaver MX 2004 and was exclusively
created using templates to reduce development time.
 The site navigation was the critical path for users to retrieve and review information. Perform Marketing designed a menu architecture, which allowed for a two tier site hierarchy. This structure allows users to select from a parent menu, which divides the site into three main categories.
To accommodate hundreds of menu items within the categories,
Perform Marketing adopted a data-driven Flash menu system using
Macromedia Flash MX Professional 2004. The Flash menu captures
the menu data upon load and presents the menu groups in an
accordion system, which opens each section when clicked to
showcase the sub-sections. The menu is tracked and highlights
the section and sub-section so that users know where they are
within the Intranet at all times. To ensure flexibility, the
menu is completely manageable by RSM Richter through Perform
Marketing's Afterlight
Content Management System.
provides a completely  versatile management system to keep up
with RSM Richter's evolving content. The Afterlight solution
enables RSM Richter employees to author site content
live 24/7. Through an administrator, users may be assigned
privileges to various sections of the site so that the
different departments within the firm may manage their own
content.
Each modification is then sent for approval and publishing.
With a new look, updated layout and a usable and intuitive navigation system, RSM Richter employees now have easy access to review company information. The end result is a manageable site that employee's can access without getting lost.
